This book really gives you a little slice of London life in the 1970's - a world where apparently folks just let their dogs out to roam all day. A world where vets were kept busy with dogs being hit by cars!
Bruce is working in, what appears to be, quite an upmarket vets. They look after the animals at Harrods (including some wild and exotic species) as well as the cats and dogs of some of the rich and famous.
This isn't a book of gossip though it's more a snap shot of how differently pets can be viewed, some of the less than great practices that were once in place and the sometimes slightly strange world of London vets.
With some snippets of Fogle's personal life (which has some added star quality, thanks to his wife to be) it's a warm read. A book that I found myself reading in small chunks - it's perfect to pick up when you have an odd 10 minutes to spare.
