This book is autobiography, sociology and veterinary science all in one. Bruce Fogle, a recent graduate of a veterinary school in Canda, has come to London and now is working for the famous Brian Singleton in Pont street London. From here he gives you a great insight into the life of a vet, the numerous clients he meets and how the practice of veterinary science has evolved.

I loved his description of life in 1970s London and the numerous high-end clients he often dealt with, including Harrods. It was good to know the part he played in stopping Harrods selling wild animals, something most of us would now find abhorrent.

Of course, if you are an animal lover, like me, some parts can be very upsetting, whilst others are uplifting. However, this demonstrates the ups and downs of being a Vet.

Towards the end we see him fall in love and marry the actress Julia Foster, however, I would have liked to have read more about how his career moved on.
