This book is a memoir of Bruce Fogle’s experiences working as a vet. He originally moved from Canada to London to achieve his goal of becoming a vet in the 1970s. I found it quite hard to get into at first, as the text switched between tenses (the past and the present), so it was a little confusing, however once I got used to this, I found it a very enjoyable read, and I couldn’t put it down.
The book covered lots of aspects of the veterinary life, the positives and the negatives, including glimpses of how badly some animals were treated back at the time, which was quite upsetting. The stories range from pets to their clients, dogs to alligators, so there is never a dull moment!
Overall, I found the stories of Bruce Fogle’s life very intriguing; I especially recommend this book to animal lovers! I also like the cover, and think it would look lovely on anyone’s shelf.
