Call the Vet by Bruce Fogle is about a newly trained Canadian vet coming to work in London in the 1970's. The novel tells his story over the first few years of learning on the job and also intertwined this with what is happening in his personal life.
The front cover attracted me as it is bright and cheery, however the back blurb not very interesting and I don't think I would have chosen to read the book based on this.
There is a good mixture of stories from the veterinary side of things, with some interesting owners he met. Some of the stories are very interesting and I enjoyed reading about the changes that have occurred during his time as a vet. However I did feel the medical explanations and drug descriptions sometimes detracted from the stories.
Bruce has led an interesting life and I felt he described his personal life well.
I did enjoy reading this book, it was well written and easy to follow.
