This was an easy and engaging read from the beginning and the taster left me wanting more!

This book discusses the relationships between people and their pets and is set in London in the 70’s when Bruce is a young, new vet. Bruce’s honesty of the way he had to change his thinking and behave differently around 50 years ago is eye opening.

When my husband and I were looking to get our first dog, we bought one of Bruce’s books (The Encyclopaedia of the Dog) and 15 years later it’s still a book we refer to and recommend to dog owners. This man is responsible for me discovering my now favourite breed (Shetland Sheepdog), for me being the conscientious and caring owner I am and for us having two lovely old dogs.
The relationship I have with my dogs is special to me but it’s not unique. I look forward to reading the whole book and learning more of what Bruce has to share about the closeness of owners and their pets. It’ll be a great read!
