I enjoyed reading this book more than I had expected from reading the first look. It is the story of Bruce Fogle's first years as a Canadian vet working in London. The story recalls his life and interesting people he met and stories about the pets and other animals that he treated. I enjoyed the stories about the animals best. Some were very funny and some brought a tear to my eye. In places I found there was perhaps a little too much description and I lost track of some of the names of people in a few places but overall I thought it was a good book. I was particularly interested by how differethings were in the 1970s. Nowadays it seems bizarre that vets were trained to believe dogs and cats didn't experience pain and I was shocked by some of the things that were standard practice then that would considered highly unethical now! Overall, if there was a sequel to this book I would probably read it.
