What an absolutely wonderful book this is, not just because its about animals (let's be honest we all have a soft spot for our animal companions in life) but because its based on true events and is a story with so many wonderful individual stories. What is impressive firstly is the distance travelled to be in the position Bruce Fogle was, its no mean feat at a young age to come from a potentially very quiet Canada to 1970s London with all its changes and differing lifestyles. What I like about this book and Bruce's easy reading style of writing is that it is a veritable whos who of celebrity pets and, although obviously he worked extremely hard to be in the position he was, what a joy it must have been for Bruce to be starstruck in his day to day work. This book would make a perfect Christmas present for a variety of people, its well written and so interesting!
