I found this a really interesting, good page turner read. This was a really enjoyable read in terms of both the social commentary of animal treatment in the 1970s and the contrast between some of Bruce Fogle's clients, from prostitutes to Hollywood film stars. As a Canadian coming to the UK it was really enjoyable to see Bruce's perspective on life in London, as only an outsider can. There are some really amusing anecdotes and very touching moments. I can remember when Harrods used to have an exotic pet department so it was interesting to find out more about the inner workings. I was shocked to learn that there used to be market stalls where you could just buy a pet on sight, many with health problems from inbreeding and poor treatment. The way that the changes in animal care are documented were so fascinating. I enjoyed the writers style and was a great escape from current reality.
