I enjoyed the style of writing immensely, it felt in keeping with the era. I really like how you get a clear insight into charlottes mind. The fact the book starts with the death of her son was slightly shocking but her reaction to it was fascinating to me and what made me keep reading. actually the book kind of reads like charlotte herself's memoir whether that was intended or not i dont know but thats how it was to me.
