The cover of the book immediately inticed me as it is evidently set in historical times which most of the books I read are. The first 3 chapters are written very sensitively on the topic of child loss, contraception and future inheritance, very real issues families were faced with during the 1800s. The characters are introduced and described well making it easy to keep up with the storyline even if Pride and Prejudice hasn't been read previously. The language used is sensitive to the period yet also easy to follow. I am definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the book.
