Writing a sequel to Pride and Prejudice is a mammoth, and brave, undertaking but one which Helen Moffett successfully rises to with skill and courage. The reader meets Charlotte some years after Pride and Prejudice ends when she has married William Collins and they have three children, two daughters and a younger son, Tom. Sadly Tom was born with health problems and the book starts with his sad death. The author describes to her readers the anguish and grief felt by both Charlotte and William and the attempts by their friends to console them. Most consolation is found in each others arms and it's certainly going to be an interesting journey finding out how they fare in the years to come. This is a book that will be enjoyed by those who appreciate Jane Austen books however it will be enjoyed equally well by readers unfamiliar with the work of Jane Austen. This is very different to the A Girl Walks Into books which the author wrote in collaboration with other authors proving Helen Moffett is an extremely talented and versatile author. There appears to be no end to this author's talents as she is also a published poet and editor. I'm very much looking forward to reading more of Charlotte's story.
