Wow! What a way to start a book. Such tragedy, but reading that mother's grief helped me to really identify with her. I really like Charlotte and her strength, not the usual damsal in distress I am used to in period novels. The author has really thought about the reader in that she has made it accessible to everyone with her writing style, I can't wait to read more.
