i wasn't sure that i'd enjoy this book, but my friend who also uses this website told me that she really enjoyed the first impression so i read it. it's been a few years since i have read pride and prejudice but i fell back into the world with ease, it was really familiar. although i usually find books that are based in the past quite difficult to get into, charlotte is a likeable, relatable character who i really grew to empathise with very quickly. i feel like a lot of women can relate to her character, she seems like a strong, dependable woman who will do her best to make sure her daughters aren't victim to the patriarchal society. i feel like charlotte is a character who will surprise us, and that's why i say i am surprised by this first impression because i didn't expect that i'd like it as much as i do. the cover is pretty, and the book seems as it will quickly become an extension to the collection of classics that everyone knows and loves. interested to read more! i want this book!
