"Happiness in marriage is entirely a matter of chance". This is what Charlotte says to Elizabeth after accepting Mr. Collins proposal. Reading Pride and Prejudice I always thought that this character was very interesting. The more pragmatical and even cynical counterpart to the idealistic Lizzie, Charlotte Lucas represents the limited options that women had to have a good life. The excerpt I read intrigued me and made me want to know more about Charlotte's life. I also liked the writing style, that is between modern and classic. I can't wait to read it!
