All big fans of ‘Pride and Prejudice’ are surely eagerly awaiting publication on this novel and it seems, they will not be disappointed!
This a beautifully written opening, evoking the pain of grief and loss of a child perfectly and also remaining faithful to the style in which Austen wrote.
It is also lovely to be reunited with the characters we love so much - like meeting an old friend! And, on this occasion, not only are we reunited but we are challenged by them: Mr Collins possesses a sensibility far more nuanced that the man we meet in ‘P&P’ and Charlotte is clearly a strong-willed, passionate woman - both are characters we immediately like and wish for good things for! This is a refreshing and welcome narrative for the couple - and one I enjoyed immensely!
I cannot wait to read more of this!
