I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I (re)read Pride & Prejudice immediately before and whilst Charlotte could still be enjoyed as a stand alone book, I'd recommend this especially to people who are more familiar with Austen's work as there are so many fun little tie ins with the original book.

The author beautifully blends homage to the original novel with a hit of scandal that I'm sure contemporaries of Austen would probably be horrified by, but that suits a modern day audience. The mood of witticism emulates Austen well, and themes of female power are explored brilliantly. It's fresh and yet reminiscent, the characters are so well developed and really in keeping with how they are presented in Pride & Prejudice and I loved exploring where their stories could have taken them.
