A Sympathetic Sequel

I always thought Charlotte Lucas got a raw deal and was delighted to read this entertaining, informative sequel.

Jane Austen is a hard act to follow, but Helen Moffat picked up the story in her very own voice. Not only was her rendition entertaining but I learned a great deal as well, about the restrictive lives of women of the upper close in Georgian England, how they fitted in to the pecking order, about childbirth in those days and about the running of their mighty households - in itself a full-time job it appears. I was also pleased to read about a more sympathetic Mr Collins.

I found the novel a tiny bit too 'educational' at points but it was an unputdownable story - and, in places, erotic too.
