This book was both heartbreaking and life affirming.
It was a great spin off from pride and prejudice that sat well within the universe while tackling some tough subjects.
Charlottes love for her son shone through on the page and seeing her relation with Mr Collins develop into a genuinely loving one was a pleasure.
The characters all felt ‘right’ and it make reading the book easier as they didn’t jar with what we already knew.
Mr Collins was however a lot more likeable when seen through Charlotte’s eyes as a kind and considerate man. That they grew to love each other and fully supported each other in all things was the outcome I think we would all have wished for Charlotte when reading Pride and Prejudice and showed that she was right to take her future into her own hands (at least in this version of her future)
