I too had the same as other peoples hesitation... due to being a fan of pride and prejudice for as long as I can remember and wondering whether it'll fit in with our perception of what we had previously of Charlotte .
I agree that from what I personally have experienced of Charlotte and my main visual I take from the 1995 adaptation on BBC... it doesn't fit with what I see her character as.
She was consider not a romantic, and wanting to marry a man whom she does not love or respect because she does not wish to become an old maid.
In this, she seems to do a 180 and begins to feel for and respect her husband following an event occurring.

Nevertheless, I adored seeing a different side and someone's different perception of her and Anne De Bourgh too!
To see what possible thoughts she had as a women in that time and the possible choices she had, are intriguing to say the least.
Definitely made me think maybe we all had her wrong?
What if she was in fact this way and not a shy, timid and unhandsome women we was all told that she was.

It may not sit well with many others as they have an ingrained view of the character from the past, and I commend them for their loyalty. But I was too curious as to leave it to go by without reading it.
I am so glad I did, I will not class it as an official carry on from certain adaptations but I shall definitely bring it into future conversations of the franchise.
I was pleasantly surprised by the book and it kept my attention throughout, I did notice the irregularities but the author explain the purpose for such at the end. I would happily recommend this to Pride and prejudice fans.
