I found Charlotte to be a lovely read in of it self but as I was reading it, it didn't feel so much like a follow up to pride and prejudice but a completely separate novel.
The writing style was great, it flowed well and was really easy to get into the story. I appreciated how the author interpreted the grief of losing a child in this novel and it was really moving to read about, However, I didn't love the relationship between Charlotte and Jacob I didn't feel like they were in love and it didn't feel like what she would do considering shes so intent on doing the right thing and securing her family's future.
I did really like that Charlotte was taking her life into her own hands to overcome the obstacles in life for her and her children.
I would definitely recommend this for anyone who enjoys historical fiction, I don't think you need to have read Pride and Prejudice to read this, it works well as a standalone.
Thank you to Readers First and the publishers Zaffre for a review copy.
