I was really anxious about reading this book as I am such a fan of Pride and Prejudice and was worried that Moffett would change the characters too much. I was initially disappointed was the portrayal of Elizabeth however this changed towards the end of the book after the delightful scenes at Pemberley. I thought the character development of Charlotte was brilliant, she was in my opinion at bit of a one sided flat character in the original but this book really bought her out into a fully rounded character. She was interesting, and controversial at points, more modern than originally thought. Her views and the feelings of a women's position at the time was also insightful and well thought through.

The only sticking point I have was that I felt the story could have been more developed but other than that it was an enjoyable read.
