As a huge fan of Jane Austen, especially Pride and Prejudice, I was beyond excited to read Charlotte by Helen Moffet but I was also incredibly nervous. On one hand, I was happy that the world I have grown to love would live on but on the other, I was fearful that it would ruin the incredible story that Austen has already created.
I started reading this book as soon as it arrived in the mail and finished it the same day! Whilst it certainly is not as good as Pride and Prejudice, Charlotte was fun and entertaining in its own way and I recommend that any fan of Jane Austen should get their hands on a copy of this book!
I thought this book was quite well written and I liked Moffet’s depiction of Austen’s beloved characters. I especially loved seeing them through Charlotte’s eyes, therefore seeing them in a new light. I admit, when I first read Pride and Prejudice, I didn’t really like Charlotte but this book has completely changed my opinion on her.
The cover is very beautiful and is a lovely edition to my growing bookshelves!
I myself am not too big a fan of Jane Austen retellings but I still thoroughly enjoyed this sequel and shall be recommending it to a few of my friends!
