I think I'm at a disadvantage coming to this series at the third outing. It's certainly magical and the author has skillfully created a whole world and cast of characters that's rich and inventive....but I think I am missing a lot of history and back story between the main characters which would have added to my enjoyment of this novel.
I think I'll have to put this aside and hunt out the first two books of the series before I come back to this one, as I'm one of those people who can't just dive in mid-series but has to start at the ground floor and work my way through them in order.
having said that I did enjoy the first few chapters I read and definitely want to read the rest which I guess is a pretty good recommendation in itself.
