This series is so consistently good...

I had just as much fun reading the third installment as the previous two, and my love for the characters continues to grow.

I particularly enjoyed the setting of this book. It takes place in Gitabria, a place of explorers and traders and inventors. The introduction of mechanical creatures was great! I wonder if we’ll see them again?

Our main protagonist, Kellen, has developed nicely - a little grittier, with darker thoughts, than when we first met him in Spellslinger. Reichis, his beloved and rather fierce squirrel cat, hasn’t changed at all. Thankfully. Though the addition of a friend (in the form of a hyena) was highly amusing.

Full of wit, danger and betrayal, Charmcaster stepped it up once again and I can’t wait to read the next one!
