Opening a book to a list of relevant characters always puts me off somewhat - it implies how complicated the plot might be. However, I have to also remind myself it is there to help you and in reality life is complicated so perhaps a long list of characters is more realistic.
I'm sure there have been plenty of spy novels published already, but there is something immediately attractive and exciting about the secret life of a spy. I am intrigued to know where the story goes and if the main character finds safety.
