The cover of the book draws you in - a man and a woman, both shadowy figures, their identities hidden. Are they preparing to meet? Or are they enemies? I love the questions that spy novels pose, especially when they feature unreliable narrators. They lead you to question everything you know, or think you know, your own beliefs and realities.

I've read a couple of books set in Portugal during WW2. It's an intriguing era with the "neutrality" of the country offering an extra layer of complexity.
