The title caught my attention due to the word spy. I don't read much mystery but was still intrigued. The word city also caught my attention as I love the urban city life and everything that comes with that. My intrigue continued, as it is set in Lisbon, Portugal. I don't know much about Lisbon so this interested me. Secondly, it is set in the 1900's, again a subject that I don't know much about.
The plot and story continued to excite me due to the strong sense of mystery as I don't read much mystery! The characters seem fun too because living within a world full of mystery must be very exciting!
The writing itself added to my enjoyment, as there was always a lot of description in it, from the description of the setting and surroundings to also good description revolving around characters.
Again with the cover, the description at the bottom is very cool.
