This book is set in 1943 and takes place during the second world war. City Of Spies by Mara Timon follows the story of SOE agent Elisabeth de Mornay and follwers her as she makes her way to Lisbon while the Gestapo chase her. Elisabeth has a job to do and she must use all of her determination and bravery to complete it in order to save the lives of many Englishmen. However, as she becomes closer to the truth, she must also be careful because there are many dangers waiting for her.
Right from the start this book was action packed and kept me hooked so I couldn't put it down. City Of Spies kept me highly entertained! This book is so well researched and I loved the way the author managed to entwine fact with fiction as I feel like it made City Of Spies a more enjoyable read. I think that City Of Spies gives a really interesting insight into Portugal during World War Two.
