This is certainly not my usual kind of read but there was certainly an attraction when reading the blurb. Interesting to see a female lead character but then again nothing should surprise us these days. Espionage books aren't always easy to get into as has been my previous experience and I'm not a huge fan of books with too many characters as I find it easy to lose track. Nevertheless this wasn't that hard to follow and we soon get swept up in Elizabeth's secret life over several European locations. Wartime is a very clever time frame in which to set this book as that is a time of great uncertainty with a character whose life contains a massive amount of uncertainty. This is very cleverly written and extremely entertaining in how the now transformed Solange Verin is able, by befriending certain characters to infiltrate the ranks and extract information.
