I love Acevedo's The Poet X, so I was excited to see had written another book in verse. I enjoyed how she got straight into the plot, explaining and showing the differences between the two girls and their reactions to their father's death. It also creates more questions that hooked me to the book. I liked the cover as it showed that Camino and Yahaira were different. The use of sharp, bright colours really drew my attention to it. I loved the use of lyrical verse as it creates a flow to the book and it brings the Dominican Culture to the book, making it a really beautiful first experience of the book.
