After having read The Fire On High, I was looking forward to this book. Then I found it was written in verse and I felt somewhat cheated. There is something about the format of poetry that prevents me from really absorbing the story or forming a connection with the characters and that definitely was proven in this case. For me, this was just an exercise in reading words on the page but not really absorbing them or becoming interested in the plight of the girls. Such a shame as the author would no doubt have sucked me wholeheartedly in to the story if it was in prose.
