The book has a really interesting premise but it's the way it's written, in a kind of free verse, that makes it so distinctive but still accessible. There is some striking imagery such as when Camino, learning of the plane crash, describes herself as "swallowed by this shark-toothed truth" or, when her father responds dismissively to her plan to study in the United States, that "his laugh was like one of those paper shredders turning my hopes into a sad confetti". Even at this early stage, I have a hunch where the story may be going and being aimed at young adults, it's not really a book for me.
