I was very unsure of whether I would like Clap When You Land. It is rare for me to read poetry, and the idea of an entire book written solely in poetry was a bit daunting. But I loved it. A story of divided family told from the perspective of two young women, coming to terms with their father's death. The language was beautiful and well written, and the struggles of the characters felt real. I loved another book by the same author With the Fire on High, and despite the different medium the author's voice was strong in both. It would have even been able to go on longer, as I would have liked to know what would have happened when they both arrived at their new home together. An author to watch out for more.
