A complex, passionate, well written contemporary novel that deals with many modern topics such as grief, family and culture.

Although the writing in verse may not be for everyone, it certainly offers a new, different way to enjoy literature and the author does a fantastic job of creating two strong voices through both sisters, with each offering a unique narrative and raw likability.

The novel also covers diverse areas, and explores them in depth. Sexuality is touched upon, but never made to feel forced, and is written to enhance not define the characters. Culture is integral theme explored, shown through the characters and their actions.

In general, Clap when You Land is an emotional, poetic, diverse novel about life and grief with flawed but realistic characters of which the audience can invest in and care about their journey.
