This was my first book by Elizabeth Acevedo and it was an absolute joy to read from start to finish! I'll definitely be picking up some of her other books when I get the chance as well as recommending her to a few of my friends. This book was able to deal with the subject of grief in a super comforting way, giving insight into how different people deal with death in different ways. In addition to this the writing style and language used is so beautiful I had to highlight passages in my copy which I don't usually do! I loved the family dynamic though I do wish the sisters had been able to interact with each other more. However that doesn't take away from the fact that the tough issues discussed throughout the book were done so with care and respect. I've seen other reviews stating that the book was a little slow to start off with but I really enjoyed the pacing of the story.
