I really enjoyed this next edition from Elizabeth Acevedo. Like Poet X this is also written in verse and I flew through it and love this style of writing. The story is about two girls living two totally different lives that are suddenly hit by tragedy and realise they have more in common than they realised! The plot was so interesting, nothing I’ve seen before, and covers race, privilege, homosexuality and grief. I loved both main characters: Camino and Yahaira and the different narratives from both girls. I enjoyed learning more about Dominican culture and the pride for this ethnicity is beautifully portrayed in this book. I would highly recommend this book to others and any of Acevedo's other books!!
