I really enjoyed this book, more than I thought I would. I normally wouldn’t read books about sister as it’s not something I can relate to but this book was amazing. Acevedo’s writing style is so lyrical and beautiful, I feel like I will love everything she writes. The was this story is told is heart wrenching and emotional but you really get the chance to feel what the characters and feeling and connect with them. Even with out knowing what having a sister feels like, I felt that I could understand the story. Camino and Yahaira develop a beautiful relationship and find huge amounts of strength from those around them which create the idea of a well developed, encouraging community which is very important. For me the writing style and layout was different but I could soon adapt and enjoy the book none the less. I now want to read the rest of her books!
