This review is a little bit delayed! I really enjoyed Elizabeth Acevedo's previous book With The Fire on High so was delighted to get the opportunity to read Clap When You Land. This is one of the first books written in verse that I have read and I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to get into and not really notice that it wasn't 'traditional' prose. I found the writing really haunting and beautiful. I felt very emotional throughout the book (perhaps unsurprising given the subject matter). It is amazing how so much depth can be created in such a relatively short book. I am really looking forward to the next book by Elizabeth, she is an excellent author and one I shall keep an eye out for.
