The wonderfully written book captures so much of my life I love how we get to see different types of girls not just trade same white blonde girl in every book. When she describes the mud I could picture it and my own abuela yelling at me for tracking in dirt to her nicely cleaned house. This book encapsulates the trauma the someone could go through losing a loved ones and how both these characters feel there grief it shows that grieving looks different for everyone. She also shows how important it is for people to lean on each other. I love how the author shows the differences of these sisters because they are coming from two completely different worlds but that doesn't change the fact that they are sisters.
The last line of the sample is beautiful "I take charge where no one else can." She feels like she needs to be the strong one because nobody else can this book uses imagery I can see the pain and hurt the girls are feeling.
