About maybe 6 months ago, this book was highly recommended to my by my aunt. I was hesitant at first but when she leant me her copy and I was at a loss for something to read, I eventually picked up Clap When You Land and I am so incredibly glad that I did. This book is absolutely beautiful and I cannot recommend it highly enough. This book is told in a really unique dual narrative of two sisters and really explores the way they cope with the loss of their father. Elizabeth Acevedo really masterfully explores the wrenching depths of grief and the effects that everyday tragedies have on the lives of so many people every day. This story follows each sister’s life respectively in New York and the Dominican Republic and how their lives are pulled together by the death of their father. This story finds a beautiful type of beauty and warmth among the pain of losing someone. Such an amazing read, I highly recommend!!
