I rarely feel sentimental at this type of books but this one was next level of good. The story was moving and heartfelt, where can I add grief and loss. I love that this book makes you put it down and reflect. I love that the spanish is mixed with the book’ s language and even though some words are not understandable you still get the point. The Dominican proverb set a very beautiful tone for the story. In this case life chose to shock the system and turn your comfort zone upside down by sticking a knife through it.
Elizabeth Acevedo knows how to write a good story and the chosen eords are amazing. Each one of her books tell a very different story but everytime with multicultural people. She also represents the LGBTQ+ theme very well. Acevedo writes poetically passionatelly like always. Every time I read one of her books I think that it can’t be better than the other one but as every time she amazed me.
