This really surprised me. Having never read anything written in verse like this I wasn't sure what to expect but it was a delight to read and left a lot to the imagination. It wasn't heavy on the description yet I knew exactly imagery to think of, what emotions.
The stark difference in the upbringing of the two sisters was subtle but clear in the way that they spoke, the things they prioritised, worried about, often it was easy to know who was speaking based on the language used without having to be told.
The story was emotional, happy and sad, and covered a lot of difficult topics with ease and in a way that felt right - they weren't rushed over.
The story flowed and I was carried along with it, wanting to know what happened next, I finished this book pretty quickly and could easily have read another 400 pages it was that good!
