I really enjoyed reading this contemporary YA book after reading the author’s other book With The Fire on High. These books shared similar themes but I also enjoyed the differences. I liked the setting in the Dominican Republic and how it had two POVs of the girls living very opposite lives (even though I usually don’t like multiple POVs in books!!). There were some quite heavy themes covered in the book which I enjoyed reading about and thought were written well. I liked how the sibling relationship developed between the two main characters through the story. Both girls live very different lives to my own so it was interesting to read about a new perspective. Overall, I really enjoyed the book and will definitely be picking up more of her books like The Poet X in the near future. I definitely recommend all her books to readers who enjoy YA contemporary stories.
