This is a book that deals with huge issues and handles them rather well. My main problem (and I fully acknowledge that the problem is mine and not the book's) is I couldn't get on with the writing style. I read, and enjoyed, The Poet X (by the same author and in a similar style) but I really struggled with this one. The style of writing does not allow for much character exploration and, although the characters changed throughout the book, it was difficult to relate to them. The issue of losing a parent suddenly was well handled, but not the bigamy aspect of the story. I quite often got the characters muddled and had to go back and check whose story I was reading.
The two girls had a very similar voice and it was difficult to distinguish between them - although, given the nature of the story, this may have been a deliberate plot device.
However, I found it frustrating and confusing. Sorry, but this just wasn't for me.
