This book is absolutely amazing. When two sisters who do not know of each other's father dies, they slowly start to learn more about his life and that includes discovering the truth about each other. One of the girls lives in the Dominican Republic and the other lives in New York. This sets a jarring cultural divide between the two girls.

I loved reading about them discovering each other's culture and the way both of them view the world. Their shared grief unites them in their sisterhood.

this book is written in verse. I listened to it on audio book and I really enjoyed the experience. The narration was really amazing and I loved the way the narrators took on the characters. Elizabeth Acevedo (the author) actually narrated one of the characters herself.

The writing style was really beautiful. I loved the lyrical nature of it. I would definitely recommend this book!
