I absolutely adored this book. I went into without knowing anything about it and I am so glad that I did. The main characters were incredibly likable and I was rooting for them through the entire book. I was moved by the plot and by the scenes in which Camino and Yahaira began to communicate with one another and when they finally met in person.

It was so interesting to get a glimpse into the lives of these two very different girls who shared a father and a tragedy. The language––the book is written in poetry verses rather than prose––was absolutely stunning and I couldn't put the book down once I started it.

Thanks to this book, I am very interested in reading more of Elizabeth Acevedo's work. Very excited to see what she has written next!
