It had been quite a long time since last time I sat down opened a book and didn't close it until reaching the end.. (and in all honesty, I had work to do.. but I couldn't stop reading this.. it is kind of mesmerizing)

This is a story about how a tragedy can change out lifes and shape our futures in a matter of days or minutes, but if we let it if we allow ourselves to feel the good with the bad it may also bring a whole new life with it.
But this is story is everything but cliché, the characters are magnificently well developed, everything fits exactly as it should and their personality and values come through every one of the events told in the book.

I have nothing but praise about how it is written, the story just flows, told in half poetry half diary-style, slowing down as the two sisters try to process their feelings, speed through as the actions occur too fast to hold on to it. Similarly, the way Spanish cripples into their stories, and the mixing in of the DR traditions and lifestyle while also understanding the problems up in New York is just outstanding.

Now, in the current state that w elive and considering how globalized our cities are, we need more stories like this, we need to understand other cultures and appreciate their beauty.
