I really enjoyed this book and read it in a couple of days. I wasn't sure what it would be like because it is written in verse and didn't think I would like it but I really did! You soon get used to the style and the poetic spacing of the words in places makes the storytelling more poignant and dramatic. The story is of Camino and Yahaira, two young women with the same father but very different lives. I found it fascinating reading about the way of life in the Dominican Republic and contrasting it with life in the United States. I like how book chapters alternate from the perspective of each sister. I also enjoyed the information at the end of the book on why the author felt this story needed to be written. I really enjoyed this book and would have liked to read on to find out what happened to the sisters next!
