Clap When You Land is a poignant, powerful, and passionate story! Because indeed this story is based on a true event (American Airlines flight 587) it really is quite powerful. I love how the setup of the book, and little things like using the Dominican Republic language which really brings out this powerful feeling forwards. Clap when you land is structured in such a unique way and this creates/ adds such power to this story. I think what I loved most about Clap When You Land, besides Elizabeth Acevedos obvious talent for free verse, is that it brings attention to something that many have forgotten about or have never heard of. The sad fact is tragedies happen all the time and most go unnoticed which means it truly only affects those directly affected however Acevedo truly brings this event to light.
