When I read that this book was written in verse I wasn't sure I'd enjoy reading it. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to read. Camino goes to the airport to welcome her father back to the Dominican Republic for the summer. Her world falls apart when she arrives to learn that the plane has crashed. In New York Yahaira is told the news that her father had died in the crash. The girls are unaware that they are both mourning the same father. The story moves between the two girls as they try to cope with their loss. Camino had always wanted to go to America to study medicine and could not understand why are father insisted she could not go. After his death she finds out why and it is with mixed feelings that she contacts her half sister.
